Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for
Despite the availability and clinical value of EHRs,= there are still significant barriers to the adoption of EHRs. CMS is sponsoring the DOQ-IT proje= ct to assist practices in the process of planning, choosing, and implementing an = EHR.
&n= bsp;
Eligible practices include small to medium sized practices. These practices are defined as a solo to an eight-physician practice. Primary care physicians planning to implement an EHR in the next 12 months will be the primary focus group.
&n= bsp;
The QIO will initiate a six-phase process to assist physician office practices in EHR adoption. The process begins with an assessm= ent of the practice to determine EHR readiness.&n= bsp; The QIO will provide assessment feedback to practices, assistance to understand EHR system requirements, and coordination of communication with vendors and practices to minimize EHR installation disruption.
